BETALearn algebra as movement.
Tileify turns algebra into something students can move, explore, and understand. It is currently in active beta testing and works for most common Algebra 1 cases, but unusual expressions can still uncover bugs or incomplete edge cases.
How students should use this
- Enter a math expression or equation in the box below.
- Drag matching like terms together, drag across the boundary, or pick a transformation button.
- Watch the tiles snap into place and look for patterns. Use Focus Workspace for a larger canvas, especially on phones.
- Check Branch Results whenever a split happens.
Tileify is built to support discovery. Students do not have to know the whole procedure in advance — they can see the legal moves and investigate what happens.

Try an example:
Tileify uses fractional exponents instead of square-root symbols when those ideas appear.
It also supports branching, plus/minus structure, and an i extension for certain imaginary-number cases.
Work with the tiles
This is the main Tileify workspace. Give the tiles room to move, combine, and reveal structure.
On a phone, open Focus Workspace for a nearly full-screen tile canvas.
Transformations Allowed
These buttons stay available for guided mode, even though many moves can now be done by dragging.
Core Actions
These are always nearby because students use them often.
Extra Tools
Use these when you need to build a new structure, like completing the square.
Branch Results
When a split happens, the branches will appear here.
Transformation Details
This gives extra detail about why each transformation is available, locked, or conditional.

Help improve Tileify
Tileify is in active beta testing. It works for most common Algebra 1 situations, but algebra can get wonderfully weird. If you find a bug, discover an equation that behaves unexpectedly, or have an idea that could make Tileify better, I would love to hear from you.
